The rain has come today bringing a welcome downpour to the garden. It’s an understatement to say how much of a help having the sunshine has been during lockdown, but waking up to a downpour brought a nice change of pace.
I wanted something fresh and green tasting this morning to complement the day. More often than not I’ll add a non dairy milk to my smoothies as a base, but today I wanted to be able to let the ingredients; limes, kiwi fruit and cucumber, to take centre stage. I also wanted something lighter tasting yet filling. Simply blending the ingredients with water facilitates this, letting the sharp citrus notes and sweeter taste of the fruit come through.

Recipe for 2 or 1 large serving
Juice from 1 lime
1 kiwi fruit, pealed and chopped
handful of frozen mango
Handful of spinach
1 tsp chia seeds
2 dessertspoons of hemp seeds
1 desertspoon of flaxseeds
1 tsp wheatgrass powder
2 cups of water
